The PTSA Staff program is excited to share that we will be hosting five events for Tino’s amazing teachers and staff in the 2021-2022 school year—continuing a long-standing tradition at Tino.
We will be serving ~150 teachers and staff members and need your generous contribution and support to make these events a success—we need monetary donations to help purchase food and holiday gift cards.
The planned events are:
- Nov 9th, 2021: Diwali and Thanksgiving Luncheon
- Dec 9th, 2021: Holiday Luncheon (plus $20 gift cards to all teachers and staff)
- Feb 2022: Lunar New Year Luncheon
- May 2022: Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
- Jun 2022: End of the year luncheon and gift baskets for retiring staff.
The total budget for these events is approximately $15,000. We recommend a donation of $100 per student, but are grateful for any amount you donate.
I have already donated to the PTSA this year, what is this second donation for?
PTSA is a non-profit, and the non-profit bylaws limit our spending on staff appreciation to 5% of the total annual expenses. Please note that these contributions are separate from the PTSA funds and are not tax-deductible. Other FUHSD high school PTSAs have similar programs.
Why is it different this year compared to previous years?
In previous years, we were able to get food donations from the parent community for these events. However, due to strict COVID protocols, we are restricted to licensed professional kitchens and individually boxed servings. This has driven the costs up such that each event is costing us around $3000 (not including holiday gift cards.)
In the past, we asked for monetary donations as well as food donations separately for each event. This year, we are asking for a one-time donation for the entire year in order to streamline the ask from the parent community and to help with budgeting.
