Dear CHS Students and Parents,
CHS International Club and PTSA would like to invite you to our LOS HERMANOS/THE BROTHERS movie-event which will take place on Fri., March 26th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
The movie is about musical brothers and their reunion after spending years apart. One brother lives in Cuba and the other lives in New York. It’s a great movie that has a lot of music and culture in it. After the movie, there will be a live Q&A session with the filmmakers!
We are asking that each family registers once and watch the movie from a single device. This would be beneficial for the post movie discussion. RSVP Link: https://tinyurl.com/international-club-movie-night
The deadline to RSVP is March 23rd at 11:59pm.
Detailed description of the movie:
Virtuoso Afro-Cuban-born brothers—violinist Ilmar and pianist Aldo—live on opposite sides of a geopolitical chasm a half-century wide. Tracking their parallel lives in New York and Havana, their poignant reunion, and their momentous first performances together. LOS HERMANOS/THE BROTHERS offers a nuanced, often startling view of estranged nations through the lens of music and family.
Featuring an electrifying, genre-bending score, composed by Cuban Aldo López-Gavilán, performed with his Cuban-American brother, Ilmar, and with guest appearances by maestro Joshua Bell and the Grammy-winning, Sphinx launched, Harlem Quartet.
LOS HERMANOS/THE BROTHERS won the Best Documentary Prize at its premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival and is a Best Music Documentary nominee at the prestigious International Documentary Association awards. It will broadcast this Fall on PBS during Hispanic Heritage Month.
